The Brown Bag Buddies was formed 15 years ago when
Dayton school nurse Karen Allen realized that children in the school
district needed help.
According to Nurse Allen, the family of a student
in Dayton was struggling, and did not have the resources for items
most families would consider common.
Allen, recognizing the needs, went all over the
county seeking assistance for this family. This made it obvious
to Allen that a group was needed to asisst students and families
in crisis, and Brown Bag Buddies was formed. Brown Bag Buddies attempts
to find individuals in the community who are willing to sponsor
a child throughout the shcool year, but does accept donations. Brown
Bag Buddies assists children in the Dayton Independent School District,
but the progam is being expanded to include students from other
districts in Liberty County.
The San Jacinto High Rollers bacame aware of the
program, and made the decision to help and make this years contribution
even bigger. Contact Skully at 936-776-7576 or NoName at 303-704-3095. |

Major Talent at The Dosey Doe:
The Dosey Doe is one of Houston’s best kept secrets when it
comes to great food and showcasing great live entertainment. Their
past talent line up reads like a who’s who of the music business:
Clint Black with brothers Kevin and Brian, Marcia Ball, Ezra Charles,
Joe Ely, Hal Ketchum, Marcia Ball, Shake Russell, Dana Cooper, Billy
Joe Shaver, Gary P. Nunn and Asleep At The Wheel to name a few.
Joining the ranks of the legends and stars will be Mean
Gene Kelton and the Die Hards in a very special one-night only show
on Saturday, September 13 at 8:30.
Live Reality TV at The Dosey Doe
This will be a very unique Mean Gene Show filled with thrills, chills
and of course, a few spills: a full band show blended with an acoustic
set (with Wolff on the Doghouse Bass), with some new material thrown
in. Also, as new and exciting twist that has been going great: Mean
Gene will engage in a question/answer session from the audience
about his music business adventures and gigs from hell. Scenes from
the event will be recorded for a possible CD and DVD release. Again
we say: Who knows what unexpected masterpieces, musical train wrecks,
surprising truths and unbridled hilarity may be captured as it happens.
Talk about reality TV! Bring your cameras and record your own Mean
Gene video. |
